Job Title: Electrical, Control & Instrument (EC&I) Design Engineer (x2)

Location: Risley / Preston/Sellafield. For engineers based in Risley or Preston, attendance at Sellafield is required for bi-weekly project meetings.

Salary: up to £50p/h - 12 month Contract

Inside IR35: Umbrella / PAYE only (no LTD company option available).

Hybrid: 3 days on site / 2 days remote

Start Date: ASAP

The Role

We are seeking 2 x Electrical, Control & Instrument (EC&I) Design Engineers to support a portfolio of Sellafield projects on an initial 12-month contract.

Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will deliver EC&I design solutions across a range of nuclear and regulated industry projects, supporting work from concept through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver EC&I design support to project deliverables within agreed timescales.
  • Produce drawings, calculations, reports, and associated technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with internal, national, and international engineering standards.
  • Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
  • Contribute to design estimates and planning activities.
  • Attend and support design reviews, HAZOPs, and project feedback sessions.

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working in a design environment within nuclear or another regulated industry.
  • Experience following a structured engineering design process.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary project team.
  • SC Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain)

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience on Sellafield projects or site.
  • Knowledge of EC&I supporting calculations and relevant industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of BS 7671 and fixed installation design.
  • Experience with AMTECH / Electrical OM / Relux / Dialux.
  • Control panel and instrumentation design experience.
  • Experience designing safety-related systems to BS EN 61508 and BS EN ISO (phone number removed)
