A specialist engineering contractor is seeking an experienced EC&I Engineer / Instrument Engineer to support a major industrial process plant project in South Wales.
This is primarily a construction engineering, installation planning and project support role rather than a design position. The successful candidate will work alongside an Electrical Engineer to develop the information, scopes and plans required for the forthcoming installation phase.
The position is focused on construction engineering, installation planning, work pack development and project support for a significant industrial installation project. The successful candidate will work alongside an Electrical Engineer to develop the information, scopes and plans required for the forthcoming installation phase.
The role will be predominantly office-based in Bridgend, with regular engagement with project stakeholders and the end client.
Applications are welcomed from both local candidates and engineers willing to travel from elsewhere in the UK. Additional accommodation support may be considered for exceptional candidates travelling from outside the area.
Key Responsibilities
-Review P&IDs and instrumentation documentation
-Review instrument schedules, cable schedules and associated engineering information
-Assess OEM and manufacturer technical documentation
-Gather and collate engineering information from drawings, photographs and existing installations
-Develop installation scopes and construction work packs
-Produce engineering and construction information packs
-Support installation planning and construction methodology development
-Provide technical input during project development meetings
-Liaise with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
-Develop labour estimates and resource requirements
-Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for future installation activities
-Support pricing and estimating exercises for future project phases
Requirements
- Previous experience as an EC&I Engineer, Instrument Engineer, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer or similar
- Good understanding of industrial instrumentation systems
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, instrument schedules and technical drawings
- Experience producing work packs, scopes of work, installation documentation or construction support packages
- Experience within industrial sectors such as:
- Process Plant
- Chemical
- Steel
- Manufacturing
- Energy
- Utilities
- Heavy Industrial
Desirable
- Construction and installation planning experience
- Brownfield industrial project experience
- Estimating or project development experience
- COMAH, process plant or heavy industrial environment exposure
