Location: Preston, North West (Flexible Hybrid Working Available, 1 day from the office per week is required minimum)
Contract Duration: 12–24 Months + 
Vacancies: 3 Contract Positions
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Rate: £51.00–£56.00 Ltd per Hour (subject to an IR35 assessment confirming outside status)

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced EC&I Design Engineers to join a leading engineering team delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term programme of work, supporting the design, delivery and commissioning of critical infrastructure within the water sector.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) solutions from concept design through to project completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce and support the design of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Deliver EC&I engineering solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial design through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Undertake site surveys, inspections, testing, commissioning support and fault-finding activities.
  • Support and oversee site installation activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and project standards.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with current industry standards, health & safety legislation and client specifications.
  • Provide technical support throughout project execution, identifying and resolving engineering challenges as they arise.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an EC&I Design Engineer within the Water, Utilities or Process Industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design principles.
  • Experience of High Voltage (HV) systems, including design, installation support and commissioning activities.
  • Demonstrable experience managing engineering deliverables and supporting projects through design and construction phases.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
