As EC&I Engineer, you’ll lead the technical delivery of all electrical, controls, and instrumentation activities while driving continuous improvement across the plant. Location: Bristol (Severnside Energy Recovery Centre)
Salary: £52,704 – £58,199
Benefits include: company car OR car allowance (up to £8,655.92 per annum), Up to 10% annual bonus, Company pension (5% employer contribution), Call-out allowance (£250 per week), 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, Sick pay, and additional benefits
What Will I Be Doing?
- Lead and supervise the EC&I maintenance technician team, including day-to-day management, performance reviews, training, and skills development (particularly DCS/SCADA).
- Own the DCS system – maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and integration of new equipment.
- Provide specialist technical support for complex fault diagnosis, plant improvement projects, and optimisation initiatives, including boiler chemistry and safety-critical systems (SIF/SIL).
- Plan and deliver EC&I shutdowns, manage specialist contractors, and ensure robust service contracts.
- Form part of the 24-hour call-out rota (call out is 1 week in 4) and deputise for the Maintenance Manager when required.
What Are the Requirements?
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
- 7–10 years’ maintenance engineering experience in process, power generation, steam-raising, or heavy industrial environments.
- Extensive knowledge of DCS, SCADA, and PLC platforms (evidenced by OEM or training provider certification).
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing or supervising technical teams.
- Understanding of EfW processes and a commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
