Hourly Rate: Up to £550 per day

We are currently seeking an Economic Development Consultant to join the Council in Welwyn on an interim basis. This role is crucial for coordinating activities and working collaboratively with businesses and partners to strengthen the local economy. The successful candidate will act as the lead officer, providing essential support to businesses, start-ups, and social enterprises.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Act as the lead officer in coordinating and arranging all activities related to economic development.
• Work closely with businesses, start-ups, and social enterprises to provide support and foster growth.
• Handle inward investment enquiries from both domestic and foreign-owned businesses.
• Collaborate with commercial property agents, commercial developers, and Chambers of Commerce.
• Engage in marketing activities to attract potential investors and business interests to the area.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree level or equivalent qualification in Economic Development, Marketing, Business Growth, or a related field, or significant experience in these areas.
• Proven experience handling inward investment enquiries.
• Experience working with commercial property agents, developers, and Chambers of Commerce.
• Strong understanding of the commercial development industry and related development issues, including the financing of development and property markets.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of leading initiatives and partnerships.
