Locum Educational Psychologist
Hybrid Working | 9-Month Contract | £646.35 per day
Aatom Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Locum Educational Psychologist on behalf of Local Council. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Educational Psychology Service, helping the Local Authority meet its statutory responsibilities for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension and offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, combining home working, school visits, home visits, and office-based work.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) allocated by the Principal Educational Psychologist.
- Undertake face-to-face assessments of children and young people where required.
- Produce high-quality, evidence-based psychological advice to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Complete assessments and reports within agreed statutory timescales.
- Liaise effectively with parents, carers, educational settings, and other professionals.
- Gather and analyse assessment data to inform recommendations and outcomes.
- Submit reports for quality assurance in line with service requirements.
- Support the Local Authority in meeting its statutory SEND obligations.
Requirements
Essential
- Postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as a practising Educational Psychologist.
- Strong experience completing EHCP/EHCNA assessments.
- Ability to write concise, analytical, and outcome-focused psychological reports.
- Sound knowledge of evidence-based practice relating to children and young people with SEND and barriers to learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and work to strict deadlines.
- Strong IT skills.
- HCPC registration.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
- Previous Local Authority experience.
- Experience working within Children's Services and Educational Psychology Services.
Working Environment
Hybrid working model.
School visits, home visits, office-based work, and remote working.

Additional Requirements
Full UK driving licence.
Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
