Make a difference where it matters

Are you an Educational Psychologist looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact?

We're looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative Educational Psychologist to join our team. You'll work across schools, settings and services, using psychology to improve outcomes for children and young people while supporting the families and professionals around them.

This role offers flexibility alongside a varied and rewarding caseload, excellent opportunities for professional development and the chance to contribute to wider projects and areas of specialist interest.

What you'll be doing

No two days will look quite the same. You'll work collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency professionals, bringing your psychological expertise to a broad range of work.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality psychological consultation to SENCOs, teachers, parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Working collaboratively with schools and colleagues from different professional disciplines.
  • Conducting classroom observations, learning environment assessments and specialist individual psychological assessments where appropriate.
  • Providing clear, practical and psychologically informed advice to schools and families.
  • Supporting mainstream schools, special schools and Short Stay Schools to develop inclusive and effective learning environments.
  • Delivering training and development in specialist areas, collaborating with other professionals where appropriate.
  • Providing statutory psychological advice within agreed timescales and contributing to annual reviews.
  • Working alongside SEN Management in relation to SEND Tribunals and representing the Local Authority where required.
  • Contributing to designated SEN Panels and reviewing identified independent and out-of-county educational placements.
  • Supporting Early Years children with identified or emerging SEN, providing consultation and assessment alongside advice for families and settings.
  • Working with Health and other partners as part of multi-agency assessment processes.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate professional records in line with service requirements.

Develop your career and professional interests

We want you to have opportunities to grow professionally, not simply manage a caseload.

You'll be encouraged to contribute to the wider development of Educational Psychology across Surrey, with opportunities to:

  • Participate in regular peer supervision.
  • Attend and contribute to area and Surrey-wide Educational Psychology meetings.
  • Access ongoing CPD and professional development.
  • Share your ideas and expertise with the wider service.
  • Develop areas of professional and specialist interest.
  • Contribute to service improvement and development.

For Educational Psychologists with at least one year's experience, there may also be opportunities to become involved in specialist projects such as:

  • School improvement and training initiatives
  • Supervision of Trainee Educational Psychologists
  • Adoption and permanency work
  • Wider projects aligned to your professional interests and the needs of the service

What we're looking for

We'd love to hear from Educational Psychologists who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and enjoy working collaboratively with others.

You'll be someone who can build positive relationships with schools, families and partner professionals, while confidently applying psychological thinking to complex situations.

You'll also be committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining the professional registration requirements applicable to the role.

Why join us?

🧠 A varied role where you can apply your psychological expertise in meaningful ways
🤝 Peer supervision and a collaborative professional network
📚 Ongoing CPD and development opportunities
🌱 Opportunities to develop your specialist interests
🎓 Potential to support and supervise Trainee Educational Psychologists
💡 The chance to contribute to projects and influence the wider development of Educational Psychology services

Ready for your next step?

If you're looking for an Educational Psychologist position that combines meaningful work, professional development and greater flexibility, we'd love to hear from you.

Join a collaborative team in Surrey and use your expertise to help children and young people overcome barriers, thrive in education and achieve their potential.
