Vibe Care are seeking, for their client, an Experience EHCP Casework Officer to support a Local Authority in delivering high-quality statutory services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You'll manage caseloads and act as the named contact for families, carers, young people, and education settings once an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) has been finalised. You'll ensure statutory processes are completed within required timeframes and the provisions outlined in each EHCP is delivered effectively.
This role would suit a person with strong communication skills, resilience, he ability to manage complex casework with accuracy and professionalism and have a proven track record in this type of work.
Case Management & Statutory Processes
- Manage caseloads of children and young people with EHCPs
- Oversee all statutory processes including Annual Reviews, Phase Transfers, and in/out-of-county moves
- Lead and direct Annual Reviews for Electively Home Educated (EHE) and Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) cases
- Manage Phase Transfer processes within statutory deadlines
- Oversee complex casework, working with finance and commissioning teams where required
Monitoring & Quality Assurance
- Monitor progress through robust scrutiny of Annual Review documentation.
- Ascertain when EHCPs need to be amended, ceased, or updated.
- Make sure schools conduct Annual Reviews in line with statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality records on Local Authority systems.
- Prepare and present information for decision-making panels, mediation, tribunals, and complaints.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with schools, health, social care, and key professionals
- Represent the Local Authority at a range of meetings, like co-production meetings, Annual Reviews, mediation, and statutory social care meetings.
- Support families in navigating the Local Offer and accessing relevant information.
- Ensure seamless handovers between Assessment Officers, Casework Officers, and Tribunal Officers.
Additional Duties
- Contribute to policy development and service improvement.
- Stay up to date with national SEND legislation and local policies.
- Prepare and present appeal cases at Tribunal where required.
- Undertake other duties as directed by senior management.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong understanding of EHCP processes and SEND legislation.
- Proven experience managing complex casework in a pressurised environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey information clearly and sensitively.
- Ability to analyse, interpret, and synthesise information from a wide range of professional reports.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- High level of resilience and emotional maturity.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet statutory deadlines.
- Confident using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to build effective relationships with families, young people, and professionals.
