EHS Manager – Industrial Installation Project 

Location: Milan, Italy 

Contract: 18 months  

Sector: Industrial / Engineering / Installation 

Start: October 2026 

Rate: Negotiable DOE 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced EHS Manager to join a major industrial installation project in Milan, Italy. 

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the implementation, management and monitoring of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and practices across the project, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and in full compliance with applicable Italian legislation and regulatory requirements. 

This is an 18-month contract role, covering the project from installation through to completion, testing and commissioning. 

The position will work closely with the Project Manager, engineering and construction teams, subcontractors and client representatives to develop a strong safety culture and ensure effective EHS management throughout the project lifecycle. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the implementation of the project's EHS policies, procedures and standards. 

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable Italian Health & Safety and Environmental legislation. 

  • Provide EHS leadership and guidance to the project management and site teams. 

  • Develop, implement and maintain project-specific EHS plans and procedures. 

  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work. 

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews. 

  • Identify hazards and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented. 

  • Support the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses. 

  • Coordinate EHS activities with subcontractors and ensure they meet project requirements. 

  • Review contractor RAMS and other relevant H&S documentation. 

  • Deliver and coordinate site inductions, toolbox talks and EHS training. 

  • Monitor environmental compliance and project environmental controls. 

  • Maintain accurate EHS records, reports and performance statistics. 

  • Provide regular EHS performance reports to project management and the client. 

  • Promote a proactive safety culture across the project. 

  • Support the project through installation, testing and commissioning while maintaining high EHS standards. 

Candidate Requirements 

  • Proven experience as an EHS Manager / HSE Manager / Safety Manager on major construction, industrial, engineering or installation projects. 

  • Strong working knowledge of Italian Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements is essential. 

  • Experience implementing EHS management systems on complex projects. 

  • Experience working with mechanical installation, industrial construction or similar environments would be advantageous. 

  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment, RAMS, site inspections, audits and incident investigation. 

  • Experience managing and monitoring subcontractor H&S performance. 

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification is required. 

  • Italian and English language skills would be highly advantageous, particularly within an international project environment. 

  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills. 

  • Able to work proactively and challenge unsafe practices when necessary. 

  • Must be eligible and able to work in Italy for the duration of the contract.
