EICA Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an EICA Design Engineer to join an established engineering team working across a range of multidisciplinary infrastructure and engineering projects.

This is an opportunity for an experienced or developing EICA/Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of practical, buildable EICA design solutions, working across electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems.

You will work closely with design managers, site teams, suppliers, contractors and clients to develop safe, efficient and commercially robust engineering solutions.

The role would suit an engineer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems, influencing design decisions and delivering technically sound solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

• Deliver preliminary and detailed EICA design across various project stages.
• Develop electrical, instrumentation, control and automation design solutions.
• Produce calculations, drawings, schedules and technical documentation.
• Develop and maintain appropriate engineering and design standards.
• Develop cable schedules, block diagrams and single-line diagrams.
• Produce electrical layout drawings, including cable routes and ducts, using CAD software.
• Develop motor, instrumentation, drive and load schedules.
• Develop hardwired interlock schedules.
• Develop I/O schedules, functional design specifications and control philosophies.
• Support the development of functional design specifications.
• Support and attend FAT and SAT activities for MCCs, control panels and associated EICA systems.
• Review test documentation and resolve technical design queries.
• Inspect and assess electrical installations.
• Assist with the development of commissioning procedures and project-specific plans.
• Provide technical specifications and report writing.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Determine applicable design, installation and client standards and ensure they are correctly applied.
• Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and technicians within the EICA team.
• Assist commercial and estimating teams with CAPEX and OPEX models for electrical, instrumentation, control and automation equipment and systems.
• Occasional travel to project sites will be required.

The successful candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's (Hons) Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in EICA/Electrical Design.
• Experience ideally gained within industrial, process, utilities or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience delivering technical designs.
• Strong technical and commercial knowledge of electrical infrastructure design, construction and commissioning.
• Experience with electrical installations, MCCs, SCADA, PLCs and associated EICA systems.
• Knowledge of site power distribution, cabling, pumps, DOL and star-delta starters, variable speed drives, motorised plant and instrumentation.
• Experience working with relevant electrical standards.
• Strong organisational and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software, including the ability to review, mark up and coordinate technical drawings.
• Professional membership of a relevant engineering institution, or evidence of working towards professional registration.
• A full and clean UK/EU driving licence.

• EICA design experience within the water/wastewater sector.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartered status.
• Experience working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• A diligent approach with excellent attention to detail.
