We are recruiting for an experienced EICA Project Engineer to join a leading engineering design and build contractor delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the North West.

Based across the Wigan and Manchester areas, with hybrid working available, this is an excellent opportunity for an EICA Project Engineer with a strong engineering background and experience within the water sector.

Working closely with the Project Manager, Construction teams, Design Engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, you will help coordinate the design, procurement and delivery of EICA works, ensuring technical information and equipment are delivered in line with the project programme, budget and construction requirements.

The Role

As an EICA Project Engineer, you will support the successful delivery of projects from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating EICA design and procurement activities to support the overall project programme.

• Working closely with design teams to ensure quality technical solutions are progressed and information is issued in line with construction requirements.

• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and site management on design, procurement and delivery matters.

• Expediting the supply chain to ensure equipment and materials are delivered in accordance with programme requirements.

• Monitoring subcontractor performance and supporting the management of suppliers.

• Assisting with the development and monitoring of project programmes and producing progress information.

• Supporting the Project Manager with project delivery strategy, commercial performance and cost control.

• Monitoring project expenditure against tender and agreed variation allowances.

• Providing cost information to support forecasts and the evaluation of variations.

• Contributing to monthly risk and opportunity reviews.

• Supporting contract reviews, forecasts and applications for payment.

• Working within NEC contracts and associated project governance processes.

• Ensuring designs consider safe construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.

• Supporting the preparation of project completion, takeover and O&M documentation.

• Maintaining effective project and contract filing systems.

• Supporting the capitalisation process.

• Maintaining strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and the wider project team.

• Identifying opportunities for innovative engineering solutions and improved project delivery.

About You

We are looking for an EICA Project Engineer with a good technical engineering background and experience working within water, wastewater or a closely related process engineering environment.

Ideally you'll have:

• An engineering or technical qualification to HNC level or above.

• Previous Project Engineering experience within an engineering, construction or infrastructure environment.

• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.

• Experience working with EICA / electrical, instrumentation, control and automation packages.

• Working knowledge of contracts, particularly NEC.

• Experience of procurement, supplier management and supply chain expediting.

• An understanding of project budgets, cost control, forecasting and variations.

• Experience coordinating engineering design with construction and commissioning requirements.

• Good knowledge of CDM and Health & Safety requirements.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• A collaborative, organised and solutions-focused approach.

A relevant professional qualification or progress towards professional membership would be advantageous but is not essential.
