Electrical Assembly Technician

Location: Beccles, Suffolk

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

TEC Partners are working with a specialist engineering and automation business in Beccles to recruit an Electrical Assembly Technician to join their growing team.

This is a hands-on position working on the build, wiring and installation of bespoke automated machinery and control systems. You’ll work from electrical and pneumatic drawings to assemble complex equipment, carry out testing and fault finding, and support installations at customer sites.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for the electrical assembly and installation of components used within bespoke automation machinery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Wiring and installation of electrical components
  • Building and wiring control panels, electrical circuits
  • Installing pneumatic components, pipework and equipment from pneumatic diagrams
  • Preparing and assembling cable routes, pipeways, brackets and support systems
  • Terminating cables and connecting electrical circuits and networks
  • Carrying out pre-commissioning checks and electrical testing
  • Fault finding, diagnostics and rectification of electrical issues
  • Repairing or replacing faulty or damaged components
  • Supporting routine inspection and preventative maintenance activities
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards
  • Supporting machinery installations and commissioning at customer sites
  • Occasional travel to customer locations across the UK and overseas

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone with practical electrical assembly, fitting or wiring experience who is comfortable working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Fitter, Electrical Assembly Technician, Panel Wirer, Electrical Technician or similar
  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems and equipment
  • Ability to confidently read and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Experience using electrical and hand tools, including wire strippers, crimping tools and test equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and fault finding
  • An understanding of pneumatic systems would be advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-conscious approach
  • Good practical problem-solving skills
  • An electrical apprenticeship, vocational qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working on automation machinery, special-purpose machinery, control panels or bespoke manufacturing equipment would be particularly beneficial.
