Electrical Construction Manager

Camberley | Data Centre | Permanent or Contract

£70,000 - £80,000 + package
or
£375 - £450 per day

This is a role for an Electrical Construction Manager who wants to work on a live data centre project as part of a strong site delivery team.

You will be working under the Senior Construction Manager, helping drive the electrical installation on site and making sure works are delivered safely, properly coordinated and in line with programme.

The project involves complex electrical infrastructure within a critical environment, so this would suit someone with strong electrical building services experience who is comfortable managing subcontractors, working from drawings, tracking progress and keeping quality under control.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting the Senior Construction Manager with the day-to-day electrical delivery across a live data centre project.

Coordinating electrical and specialist subcontractors on site to make sure works are delivered safely, correctly and in line with programme.

Driving installation works across areas such as containment, LV distribution, cabling, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busbar, lighting, small power, earthing and bonding, fire alarm, security, structured cabling, BMS interfaces and associated critical infrastructure.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Design Managers, QA teams, commissioning teams and client-side representatives.

Managing short-term lookahead programmes, labour planning, workface coordination, RAMS, permits, progress updates and site constraints.

Maintaining installation quality through inspections, snagging, QA checks, ITPs, test records and handover information.

Helping pick up site issues early and escalating anything that could affect programme, cost, quality or commissioning.

Supporting the transition from installation into testing, commissioning and project handover.

Making sure subcontractors are working safely and that site standards are properly maintained.

What you’ll need

Previous experience as an Electrical Construction Manager, Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Package Manager or Electrical Project Engineer on technically detailed projects.

Strong electrical building services experience, ideally gained with an M&E contractor, electrical contractor, data centre specialist, main contractor technical services team or mission critical contractor.

Data centre experience would be ideal, but experience on commercial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, infrastructure, industrial or other technically complex electrical projects would also be relevant.

A good understanding of electrical installation sequencing, drawings, coordination, QA, testing, commissioning requirements and site delivery.

Experience managing subcontractors, labour, workfaces, progress meetings, site constraints and quality standards.

The ability to keep control of multiple areas at once while maintaining safety, programme and installation quality.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, client teams and senior project leadership.

SMSTS, CSCS or ECS and First Aid would be expected.

Why this role

This is a good opportunity to move onto a data centre project while working under a senior lead who will own the wider construction delivery.

You will still have proper site responsibility, but you will not be expected to carry the full project on your own. The role gives you exposure to a technically demanding critical environment project, with the chance to strengthen your data centre experience and progress within a specialist delivery team.
