Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Manchester

Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based

We’re currently working with a leading engineering business operating across the UK water and wastewater sector, who are looking to appoint an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing design team.

This is a great opportunity for an electrical engineer with around 3–5 years’ design experience who is looking to develop their technical career while working on a range of water and wastewater projects.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality electrical design deliverables and supporting projects from concept through to construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing electrical designs in line with safety, quality and client requirements
  • Preparing electrical calculations, drawings, reports and technical specifications
  • Developing LV electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment projects
  • Working closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate and coordinated drawings
  • Liaising with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant British Standards, legislation and client specifications
  • Supporting design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering activities
  • Managing design changes throughout project delivery
  • Attending client, supplier and internal design meetings
  • Continuing to develop your technical knowledge through mentoring, CPD and professional development

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ electrical design experience within the UK water industry
  • Experience producing LV electrical designs for water or wastewater treatment projects
  • Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and water industry design practices
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary design environment
  • A full UK driving licence

It would also be beneficial if you have experience with:

  • ICA, control systems or telemetry
  • ATEX design principles
  • Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or similar electrical design software
  • BIM processes and Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status
