Electrical Design Engineer
Contract | Outside IR35 | £45/hour
Location: Hertfordshire - On-site initially, then hybrid working is a possibilty.

An long term contratct opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team delivering complex industrial equipment. This is a hands-on contract role focused on producing high-quality electrical designs for new product development.
The Role
- Produce detailed electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
- Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts and wiring documentation for industrial machinery.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs) and support electrical testing, build and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design AC/DC power distribution and machine control systems.
- Develop machinery safety circuits and associated technical documentation.
- Support electrical integration, testing and validation of new equipment.
- Ensure designs are delivered to a high technical standard and within project timescales.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN for electrical design.
- Strong background designing industrial electrical control systems and power distribution.
- Experience producing electrical documentation, schematics and BoMs.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
Standards & Regulations
Knowledge of the following standards and regulations is highly desirable:
- UKCA, CE, EU Low Voltage Directive and EU EMC Directive.
- NFPA 79 and NFPA 70 for US electrical compliance.
- EN (phone number removed), EN (phone number removed), EN ISO 13849, EN 62061, EN 61326 and FCC CFR 47 Part 15.
- Experience designing compliant machinery safety and EMC solutions for UK, European and North American markets.
