Description
Electrical Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance works.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across distribution boards, lighting, power systems, and control panels.
- Undertake statutory inspections, testing, and compliance activities including emergency lighting and electrical systems.
- Support installation, modification, and upgrade projects.
- Record maintenance activities using mobile and digital reporting systems.
- Ensure compliance with current electrical regulations, health and safety legislation, and university procedures.
- Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support apprentices and junior colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
- Participate in the engineering on-call rota, responding to urgent issues when required.
Profile
A successful Electrical Engineer should have:
- Recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, AM2, JTL Apprenticeship, or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Experience in a maintenance-focused electrical engineering role.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of electrical compliance and health & safety requirements.
- Knowledge of building services and safe working practices.
- Comfortable using digital systems including CAFM software, tablets, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and email.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
Job Offer
- Salary range of £39,000 to £43,900 dependent on the level of experience.
