Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias)

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and ambitious Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to progress into an Electrical Supervisor role and play a key part in developing our electrical services division.

Working across a commercial property portfolio, you will be responsible for electrical maintenance, testing, inspection, compliance, remedial works, and small projects. The role offers a clear progression path into supervision and is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems.
  • Attend reactive maintenance tasks and diagnose faults.
  • Complete electrical testing, inspection, and certification.
  • Conduct and review EICRs, identifying remedial requirements.
  • Undertake remedial works arising from inspections and reports.
  • Support installations, refurbishments, and small works projects.
  • Assist with estimating, quotations, and scoping works.
  • Ensure compliance with current regulations and company procedures.
  • Complete service reports and certification accurately.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Support the growth and development of the electrical division.

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 City & Guilds Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Experience

  • Commercial building services or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience carrying out testing, inspection, and certification.
  • Good understanding of EICRs and electrical compliance.
  • Experience producing accurate reports and documentation.
  • Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience within a mobile engineering role.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Quantity Surveying experience, including estimating and quotations.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Experience delivering small works and projects.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of wider M&E services.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and proactive engineer who is looking to develop their career and progress into a supervisory role. You will have excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems, testing and inspection, and EICR reporting. Commercial awareness, including the ability to identify, scope, and price remedial works, would be highly advantageous.

You should be organised, professional, customer-focused, and capable of working independently while building strong relationships with clients and colleagues. A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a growing division are essential.
