Electrical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Estimator to join our project team on a site-based assignment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for a range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Using Spoons Estimating Software, you will analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to produce detailed cost estimates and support the successful delivery of projects.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical installations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates using Spoons Estimating Software.
• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and schedules.
• Complete material take-offs and labour calculations for electrical installations.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Produce comprehensive tender submissions within specified deadlines.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Attend site visits and tender review meetings as required.
• Liaise with project teams to ensure estimates reflect project requirements and site conditions.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, labour rates, and pricing information.
• Assist in the preparation and pricing of variations and change orders.
• Support handover meetings with operational teams following successful tender awards.
• Monitor market trends, supplier pricing, and industry developments.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within the construction, building services, or M&E sector.
• Proficient in the use of Spoons Estimating Software.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and current industry standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Requirements

• Electrical qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience working on commercial, data centre, aviation, healthcare, or industrial projects.
• Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
• Experience with value engineering and cost planning.
