The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a well-established and growing M&E building services contractor based in Washington.
With over 40 years of industry experience, the business delivers mechanical, electrical and public health projects across the UK, working across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and public sector.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team and play a key role in securing and delivering new projects.
The Role
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of M&E building services projects.
You will work closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure tenders are technically robust, commercially viable and delivered within required timescales.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and competitive tender submissions for M&E projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Produce accurate cost plans and pricing submissions.
- Complete detailed take-offs and assess labour and material requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Support pricing strategies and ensure tenders remain commercially competitive.
- Assist with the successful handover of tenders to the project delivery team.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost information.
- Support commercial decision-making throughout the tender process.
- Ensure tenders are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within an M&E contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building services.
- Proven experience pricing tenders and producing detailed estimates.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Experience dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Good understanding of project delivery and contract requirements.
- Strong communication, organisational and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines.
£50,000 – £60,000 salary
