The Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing commercial team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects.

Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients, you will play a key role in securing new business and ensuring projects are commercially viable from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documentation
• Carry out quantity take-offs and cost analysis
• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify risks and opportunities at tender stage
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required
• Maintain estimating records, databases, and pricing schedules
• Support value engineering and cost optimisation
• Assist with project handovers following successful tenders

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within construction or building services
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and installation processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines

Desirable:

• Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or Degree)
• Experience working on commercial or industrial projects
• Knowledge of current electrical regulations and industry standards
• Membership of a professional body
