About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader, an electrical fitter is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and pre-testing of bespoke LV switchgear and control panels. This hands-on role requires technical competence, accuracy and the ability to work to engineering drawings and wiring schematics.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in electrical assembly, strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Panel Assembly: Build and assemble LV switchgear and control panels according to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Wiring & Terminations: Complete electrical wiring, terminations, and connections to a high standard of accuracy and safety

  • Quality Control: Adhere to quality procedures, ensuring all work is completed to specification and meets internal QA checks
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate build and test records, highlighting any issues or modifications required
  • Health & Safety: Follow company health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe working environment at all times
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure build schedules are met and customer requirements are delivered on time
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas to improve build processes, efficiency and product quality
  • Testing: May be required to assist with functional and insulation testing of panels, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards

Key Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation or a related discipline
  • Experience in electrical manufacturing or switchgear assembly
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics
  • Good knowledge of LV electrical systems and components
  • Competence with hand tools, crimping and cable management
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong awareness of health and safety standards
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable (but not essential)

  • BS 7671 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Previous experience within a switchgear or electrical manufacturing environment
  • Valid ECS/CSCS card
  • Experience with busbar systems, MCCs or package substations
