Tata Steel’s largest UK works, Port Talbot, are seeking a permanent Electrical Inspector within their Hot Rolled Products remit. Around 83,000 tonnes of slab a week are processed through this department for customers worldwide. The successful applicant will be a time served Electrical Apprentice holding NVQ3 Electrical. 

On this occasion, only applicants with FULL Right to work in the UK already in place can be considered. 

Role: Electrical Inspector

Hours: Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week

Location: TATA Steel, Port Talbot, SA13 2NG, United Kingdom 

Rate: Competitive and based on experience (inside IR35)

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out electrical installations

  • Issuing permits on electrical systems after training 

  • Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults on control systems, drives and motors

  • Ensuring full compliance with H&S and company policy at all times

  • Supporting the rest of the team to quickly diagnose and/or rectify faults

  • Reacting to engineering, quality and safety issues immediately and effectively 

  • Contributing to plant performance improvement 

Essential requirements:

  • Completed an approved Apprenticeship with a minimum of NVQ Level 3 Electrical (or equivalent)

  • Strong technical knowledge including fault finding on electrical systems 

  • Good understanding of electrical permit systems 

  • Enthusiasm towards undertaking further and additional development and training 

  • Strong interpersonal communication including good verbal and written communication

  • Proven experience in a relevant position with a willingness to undertake further development and training

  • Excellent UK Health and Safety knowledge 

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience on DC and AC controls and drives 

  • LV and/or HV authorisation

  • Knowledge and experience on PLC programs, in particular fault finding
