Electrical Installation Engineer – AV & Lighting
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE + Overtime
Location: Lutterworth
A specialist technology installation business is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer to join its growing team. The business delivers bespoke permanent audio, lighting, visual and control system installations across a wide range of prestigious UK buildings and venues.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician who enjoys varied project work and wants to develop specialist experience within the professional AV and lighting industry.
ResponsibilitiesThe Electrical Installation Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical installation work as part of a wider team installing integrated AV, lighting and control systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Installing electrical infrastructure for professional audio, lighting and visual systems.
- Installing containment including tray, basket, conduit and trunking.
- Running, terminating and testing power and data cabling.
- Installing distribution equipment and electrical supplies for AV systems.
- Carrying out inspection and testing of electrical installations.
- Completing relevant electrical certification and signing off works where appropriate.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Installation Engineers to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
- Supporting commissioning and system testing where required.
- Maintaining accurate site documentation.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the installation team.
- Travelling extensively across the UK and working away during the week when required.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop into a lead electrical engineer, taking responsibility for electrical installation standards and helping to develop the company's in-house electrical capability.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified electrician with strong commercial installation experience and a genuine interest in developing their knowledge of AV, lighting and specialist technology systems.
Previous AV experience is advantageous but not essential. The client is also keen to speak with experienced electricians who have an interest in learning the AV and lighting side of the industry.
Essential requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- AM2 qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Commercial electrical installation experience.
- Experience inspecting and testing electrical installations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an installation team.
- High standard of workmanship with a strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable experience and qualifications:
- ECS Gold Card.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.
- Experience signing off commercial electrical installations.
- AV or lighting installation experience.
- Theatre or entertainment lighting experience.
- Structured cabling experience, including Cat6 and fibre.
- IPAF.
- PASMA.
- Experience working within heritage or listed buildings.
- Basic networking knowledge.
Project Environment
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on technically interesting and bespoke projects involving:
- Professional sound systems.

- Architectural lighting.
- Projection systems.
- LED displays.
- PTZ camera systems.
- Control systems.
- Network infrastructure.
Projects can involve churches, cathedrals, theatres, schools, universities, community venues, heritage buildings and other prestigious UK sites.
