Electrical / M&E Installation Engineer

Novara People are recruiting for an experienced Electrical / M&E Installation Engineer to join a specialist engineering business installing ventilation systems across London and the South of England.

This is a hands-on, site-based position involving regular travel to different customer sites. You'll work alongside a small engineering team, carrying out electrical and mechanical installations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to a high standard.

We're looking for someone with a strong electrical background who is comfortable working independently on site, dealing with contractors and taking responsibility for getting the job completed properly.

There is plenty of opportunity to develop within the business, with training provided on their specialist ventilation systems.

Duties
Installation of specialist electrical and mechanical ventilation systems
Working across various sites throughout London and the South of England
Carrying out electrical installation works to required standards
Supporting mechanical installation works where required
Reading and working from drawings and specifications
Testing and commissioning systems following installation
Fault finding and resolving issues on site
Control panel wiring where required
Working closely with Project Managers throughout each project
Providing regular progress updates by phone, email and face-to-face
Liaising professionally with Main Contractors and M&E Contractors on site
Ensuring installations are completed to specification and programme
Maintaining high standards of workmanship and health & safety
Supporting and supervising labourers or apprentices where required

Skills:

Previous experience working as an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, M&E Engineer or Installation Engineer
Experience carrying out electrical installations on commercial or construction sites
Able to work confidently from drawings and specifications
Mechanical installation experience would be beneficial
Ventilation, HVAC or M&E experience would be advantageous
Control panel wiring and fault-finding experience would be an advantage
Comfortable testing and commissioning installations
Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Able to work independently and as part of a small site team
Experience supervising labourers or apprentices would be beneficial
Confident dealing directly with Main Contractors and M&E Contractors
Good communication and organisational skills
Willing and able to travel regularly across London and the South of England
Professional, reliable and self-motivated

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent
17th or 18th Edition
Valid ECS or CSCS card
City & Guilds 2391 – preferred but not essential
SSSTS or SMSTS – required for the Supervisor position
Full UK Driving Licence – preferred due to the travel involved
