We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy heavy industrial operation. Working as part of an established engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting the ongoing performance of site operations.

The Opportunity
This is a hands-on maintenance position supporting a wide range of industrial plant and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for both planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and continuous improvement activities.
You will work closely with production and engineering colleagues to maximise equipment uptime, improve reliability and ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across a range of industrial plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete effective repairs within agreed timescales.
- Conduct routine inspections and condition monitoring of electrical systems and machinery.
- Support the installation, commissioning and modification of plant and equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, drives, control panels, sensors and automated systems.
- Fault-find on PLC-controlled equipment and assist with control system improvements.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
- Support planned shutdowns and larger maintenance projects when required.
- Work collaboratively with operations, engineering teams and external contractors.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site health, safety and environmental procedures.
Experience & Background
- NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience within a heavy plant, industrial, processing or manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working with industrial motors, drives, control panels and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated machinery.
- Familiarity with inverters, sensors and industrial control systems.
- Experience carrying out both planned preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
- Strong understanding of safe isolation procedures and electrical safety standards.
