An established and respected Engineering and Manufacturing company is looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to provide first-line maintenance support across its manufacturing facility.
This is a varied, hands-on position supporting a range of CNC machinery, press brakes, fabrication equipment and general site/building services.
The successful candidate will be electrically qualified to City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent and must have previous experience of electrical fault finding, diagnostics and repair within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Basic FunctionThe Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be the first point of contact for machinery and site maintenance issues, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs wherever possible.
You will work across a range of production equipment, including CNC machine tools, mills, lathes, press brakes and other sheet metal/fabrication machinery, as well as undertaking general electrical and building maintenance.
Where a fault requires specialist OEM or external contractor support, you will be expected to have sufficient technical knowledge to diagnose the problem, identify the likely cause and communicate effectively with external engineers and contractors to ensure the issue is resolved quickly.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical fault finding, diagnostics and repair of CNC and production machinery.
- First-line maintenance support for CNC mills, lathes, press brakes and fabrication equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, control and basic mechanical faults on production machinery.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Carry out general electrical maintenance and repairs around the manufacturing site.
- Undertake basic mechanical maintenance and repairs where appropriate.
- Support the installation, assembly and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Identify when specialist external support is required and liaise technically with OEMs, service engineers and contractors.
- Carry out general building and facilities maintenance as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, faults and repairs.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
The successful candidate must have:
- City & Guilds Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent.
- Previous industrial electrical maintenance experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience of electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
- Previous experience maintaining and repairing CNC machinery and/or machine tools.
- Experience working with press brakes, fabrication or similar industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
- Good practical understanding of machinery controls, motors, sensors, switches, relays and associated electrical systems.
- The technical ability to diagnose faults and communicate effectively with specialist external contractors when required.
- A practical, hands-on and proactive approach to maintenance.
Experience of basic mechanical maintenance, pneumatics, hydraulics and general building maintenance would be advantageous.
This position would suit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Technician or electrically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who enjoys a varied role and is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day maintenance within a busy manufacturing environment.
