Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Salary: £43,000 per annum

We are looking for an experienced Building Services Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join our facilities management team, supporting a prestigious commercial office environment. This is a highly customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills, a professional appearance, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical building services.

  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency call-outs.

  • Maintain critical building systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Complete remedial works and statutory compliance tasks.

  • Supervise specialist subcontractors where required.

  • Liaise with the helpdesk and on-site facilities team to ensure SLA and KPI targets are achieved.

  • Use handheld devices and laptops to manage maintenance tasks and update records.

  • Complete statutory inspections, testing and compliance documentation.

  • Support audits and ensure all health & safety procedures are followed.

  • Identify and report building or maintenance issues affecting business operations.

  • Assist with minor project work and provide quotations for additional works.

  • Build strong relationships with clients and respond professionally to customer queries and complaints.

  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota as required (additional remuneration available).

About You

  • Recognised electrical qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent).

  • Minimum 17th Edition qualification (18th Edition preferred).

  • At least 3 years' experience within building services or facilities maintenance.

  • Apprenticeship background desirable.

  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building services.

  • Good knowledge of statutory compliance and health & safety regulations.

  • Comfortable using handheld technology, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Well organised, self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Professional, presentable and confident working within a corporate office environment.

  • Physically able to work at height, access plant rooms and undertake manual maintenance activities.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week on a flexible basis between 7:00am and 7:00pm (chose your hours within these times)
