Electrical Maintenance Technician (Shift)

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly regulated cGMP manufacturing environment, supporting the reliability and performance of production equipment, utilities and facilities.

In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in ensuring our manufacturing operations run safely and efficiently by carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, completing calibration activities and supporting continuous improvement projects.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment and utilities using the eMaint maintenance management system.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, minimising downtime and supporting production targets.
  • Complete calibration activities on manufacturing equipment using the ProCal calibration system.
  • Work closely with Production teams to diagnose faults and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and validation of new or modified equipment, including occasional Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) visits where required.
  • Liaise with the Purchasing team to ensure spare parts are available when needed and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Complete all maintenance documentation accurately, ensuring full compliance with cGMP standards and company procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate external contractors carrying out engineering work on site.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within engineering work areas.
  • Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Production and other departments to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  • Support engineering cover through shift working and participation in an on-call rota when required.
  • Occasionally travel to other company sites in Belfast or Scotland to support maintenance activities.
  • Comply with all Company SOPs, Engineering procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor or Production Management.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • City & Guilds Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an Electrical discipline.
  • Completed electrical apprenticeship.
  • Post-apprenticeship experience within an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Previous maintenance experience within the pharmaceutical, food or chemical manufacturing industries.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as eMaint.
  • Experience with SCADA systems.
  • Calibration experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Working Pattern

This is a 40-hour per week permanent shift position operating on a rotating three-week pattern:

  • Week 1 (Days): 06:00 – 14:30
  • Week 2 (Evenings): 14:00 – 22:30
  • Week 3 (Nights): 22:00 – 06:30

Shifts rotate weekly between Sunday evening and Friday morning.

For your initial training period, you will work a standard day shift:

08:00 – 16:30

The role also includes participation in an on-call rota to provide engineering support outside normal working hours when required.
