Yolk Recruitment is working with a specialist manufacturer based in Pontypool who are entering an exciting phase of growth, backed by significant investment planned for 2026. As part of this, they are looking to add an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to their established team.

What you'll be doing:

Working a rotating 3-shift pattern across mornings, afternoons and nights, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the electrical reliability of a fast-paced production environment. This is a hands-on position where you'll be responding to breakdowns, completing planned maintenance, and contributing to ongoing improvements across the site.

You will be responsible for diagnosing electrical faults, keeping equipment running efficiently, and supporting installation and upgrade projects as the business continues to invest in its future.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical repairs on production equipment
  • Diagnosing electrical faults and conducting root cause analysis to reduce downtime
  • Supporting machinery installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities
  • Maintaining drives, motors, control systems, PLCs, sensors, and automated equipment
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety standards and site procedures

What you'll bring to the team:

  • A recognised electrical engineering qualification, ideally gained through an apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Solid, hands-on experience across maintenance within heavy engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly where downtime is critical
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems
  • Strong knowledge of AC and DC drives and motors
  • Experience fault finding and interrogating PLC systems
  • Exposure to a wide voltage range, from high voltage systems through to low voltage controls
  • Understanding of motor control systems including contactors, star delta, and DOL starters
