Power the Future of Green Energy

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician looking for a role where your skills directly contribute to a more sustainable future

At Pretoria Energy, we're transforming organic waste into clean, renewable energy.

Through advanced Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation, biomethane production, and carbon capture technologies, we help reduce carbon emissions while producing sustainable energy for homes, businesses, and the national grid.

As our business continues to expand, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our growing in-house Engineering Team.

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a rapidly evolving industry, supporting critical renewable energy infrastructure while developing your career in one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors.

About the Electrical Maintenance Technician role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Electrical, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving the electrical systems that keep our AD plants operating safely and efficiently.

This is a highly varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.

You'll be involved in everything from planned preventative maintenance and fault-finding to installations, testing, inspections, and breakdown response across multiple renewable energy technologies.

Importantly, this is not a desk-based position, this is entirely hands on, practical work. A significant proportion of your time will be spent working outdoors across operational plant areas, often at height and in all weather conditions, supporting the day-to-day running of our facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults across site systems and equipment.
  • Performing electrical repairs, installations, inspections, and testing to a high standard.
  • Modifying and maintaining control panels.
  • Supporting plant breakdown investigations and ensuring equipment is returned to service quickly and safely.
  • Working on motors, drives, instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
  • Conducting fault-finding on 3-phase electrical systems and safety circuits.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using company logging systems.
  • Supporting mechanical maintenance activities where required.
  • Adhering to all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a practical, organised and self-motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.

You'll be comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a close-knit engineering team.

In order to be successful in this role you must have experience with:

  • Industrial or manufacturing electrical maintenance experience.
  • Electrical breakdown repair, maintenance, and installation.
  • Electrical fault-finding and diagnostics.
  • Control panel modification.
  • 3-phase systems.
  • Safety circuits.
  • Motor testing.
  • Inverter drives.
  • 4-20mA instrumentation and control signals.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working around plant machinery.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.

It would be great if you had:

  • PLC systems and I/O fault-finding.
  • SCADA systems and industrial networks.
  • Emergency lighting testing, maintenance, and installation.
  • 11kV switching and fault diagnosis.
  • CCTV maintenance and servicing.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience involving: Augers, Conveyors, Gearboxes, Pneumatics, Valves and Process plant equipment
  • Strong IT and computer skills.
  • HNC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent industry experience.
  • City & Guilds 2391, 2392, or equivalent.
  • 16th Edition, 17th Edition or 18th Edition Electrical Regulations qualification.

We are also happy to consider suitably qualified candidates who may have less experience but can demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn.

At Pretoria Energy, you'll work with innovative green technologies that convert waste into clean energy, helping reduce environmental impact while supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon economy.

You'll join a supportive engineering team, receive specialist training, and gain valuable experience in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the energy market.

If you're looking for a role that combines engineering, problem-solving, outdoor working, and genuine long-term career prospects, we'd love to hear from you.
