An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Panel Wiring Technician to join a leading engineering and R&D team developing advanced hydraulic testing systems for global customers.
This is a practical, workshop-based role where you will be responsible for assembling and building electrical control panels, enclosures, sub-assemblies and interconnecting cables for special-purpose equipment.
As an electrical panel wiring technician you will have a good understanding of electrical/electronic components, and the ability to work confidently from wiring drawings and schematics while maintaining a very high manufacturing standard.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Assembly & Wiring
- Assemble electro-mechanical systems and sub-assemblies from drawings and build procedures
- Build electrical control panels and enclosures from scratch, including mechanical assembly
- Drill, tap and fit internal panel components including relays, terminal blocks and power supplies
- Carry out electrical crimping, soldering, wiring and looming to a high standard
- Assemble cables, including crimping connectors, cable termination, looming and labelling
- Work accurately from electrical/electronic drawings, schematics and engineering documentation
Testing & Quality
- Inspect and test completed electrical assemblies as required
- Conduct final electrical/electronic inspections and complete associated documentation
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, accuracy and attention to detail
- Work to established manufacturing procedures and quality requirements
Installation & Customer Support
- Support installation and commissioning activities at customer sites when required
- Represent the company professionally when working with customers
- Be willing to travel occasionally, including potentially internationally
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience of panel wiring and/or machine wiring
- Basic electrical knowledge with the ability to read and work from electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- Experience wiring control panels/boxes, including crimping, soldering and terminating
- Experience of electrical loom/harness assembly and soldering to a high standard
- Practical experience within an engineering, manufacturing or electro-mechanical environment
- Apprenticeship or equivalent practical/educational background
