The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Project Engineer to join the delivery team on one of the UK's most significant advanced manufacturing developments.
Working for a leading national MEP contractor, you will play a key role in delivering the £45 million MEP package on a £220 million new-build research and advanced manufacturing facility in Rochester, Kent. The development will deliver over 32,000m² of state-of-the-art manufacturing, engineering and office space, supporting the production of next-generation technologies.
This is a rare opportunity to become involved at the earliest stages of the project, seeing it through from pre-construction to final handover.
Project Programme:
- PCSA through to January 2027
- 12-month Pre-Construction phase (February 2027 – January 2028)
- Construction & Delivery phase (February 2028 – March/April 2029)
The successful candidate will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle, working closely with the client, design teams and specialist subcontractors to successfully deliver this technically complex scheme.
Role & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Electrical Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of the electrical package throughout all project phases.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the project during PCSA and pre-construction activities.
- Reviewing design information and identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinating with consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team.
- Assisting with procurement of specialist electrical packages and equipment.
- Producing and managing technical submittals and RFIs.
- Monitoring installation quality and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications.
- Managing subcontractor performance and programme.
- Supporting commissioning activities and witnessing testing.
- Maintaining project documentation, quality records and progress reporting.
- Working closely with the commercial team on change management and package progress.
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety and project quality standards.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with experience delivering complex building services projects for either an MEP contractor or main contractor.
You will ideally have:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience as an Electrical Project Engineer on major construction projects.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical building services installations.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating design.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work within integrated project teams.
