Electrical Project Engineer

Salter Grange Limited

Electrical Project Engineer

Salter Grange is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading mechanical, electrical and process engineering contractor delivering major construction projects.

Our client is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join their team across the full project lifecycle - from bid preparation through design, delivery, commissioning and handover.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager for design work, and to the Project Manager when assigned to a project, you'll plan project development, produce electrical designs, resolve site and operational engineering issues, and coordinate with clients, the design team and contractors on technical and commercial matters - potentially across several projects at once.

Electrical Project Engineer Responsibilities

Bid / Design Phase

  • Review project specifications and relevant electrical standards.
  • Specify and select electrical equipment and systems, and prepare design calculations and drawings.
  • Engage with the market and procurement team to identify the optimal, cost-effective solution.
  • Ensure designs are prepared with constructability and commissionability in mind.

Delivery / Construction / Commissioning Phases

  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments and technical/contract documentation, and analyse tenders.
  • Manage the delivery schedule, RFIs and look-ahead programmes, and issue progress reports.
  • Carry out quality control through inspections and snagging, and maintain document control.

Electrical Project Engineer Requirements:

  • Detailed knowledge of electrical engineering, plus a basic understanding of mechanical, C&I and structural disciplines.
  • Commercial understanding and a grounding in Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and a self-aware, accountable, development-focused approach.
