Electrical Project Manager - Data Centres
James Lewis Recruitment
Electrical Project Manager – Data Centre
Iver, Slough | New Build Data Centre | £100,000 - £120,000 + Package
This is a serious role for an Electrical Project Manager who has already delivered large building services packages and wants to step into a major new build data centre scheme with proper scale, pressure and technical detail.
You will be joining a large data centre project in Iver, near Slough, taking responsibility for the electrical delivery of a technically demanding new build scheme. This is not a coordination-only role where you sit above the detail. The job needs someone who can lead from the front, manage programme and procurement, control technical information, drive subcontractors and keep the electrical package moving from planning through to commissioning and handover.
The salary is £100,000 - £120,000, with a package including car allowance, bonus, travel and private medical insurance.
The business is an established M&E contractor delivering major building services projects across the UK and Ireland, with a strong presence in technically led sectors. They have the structure, project support and senior leadership around them to deliver large schemes properly, but this role still needs someone who can take ownership and make decisions.
You will be working closely with the wider project team, including mechanical, CSA, commercial, design, procurement, commissioning, subcontractor and client-side teams. The role needs an Electrical Project Manager who understands the full project lifecycle, can manage a team, and is comfortable being accountable for electrical delivery on a fast-moving data centre site.
What you’ll do
Lead the electrical delivery of a major new build data centre project from planning and procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.
Manage project planning, short-term programming, labour, procurement, materials, technical information and site delivery across the electrical package.
Coordinate closely with mechanical, CSA, design, commercial and commissioning teams to make sure electrical works are properly sequenced and aligned with the overall programme.
Oversee electrical systems including HV/LV distribution, switchgear, containment, small power, lighting, life safety systems, generators, UPS, earthing, testing, commissioning and associated data centre infrastructure.
Lead regular meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives, keeping actions clear and making sure issues are closed out quickly.
Review and manage technical submittals, RFIs, method statements, drawings, procurement schedules, quality records and project documentation.
Monitor progress, identify risk early and take corrective action where programme, cost, quality or delivery is under pressure.
Work closely with the commercial team to maintain control of project cost, change, subcontractor performance, risk and project P&L.
Drive health, safety, quality and environmental standards across the electrical works.
Support commissioning, IST, handover, client demonstration, O&M information and final close-out.
What you’ll need
- You will already have experience as an Electrical Project Manager delivering medium to large-scale building services projects for an M&E contractor.
- You will have a proven record taking electrical packages from pre-construction, planning and procurement through to site delivery, commissioning and handover.
- Data centre experience would be a strong advantage, particularly around critical power, resilience, commissioning, IST and high-pressure handover environments. However, strong experience from large-scale commercial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, industrial, life sciences or mission-critical schemes will also be considered.
- You will need to be commercially and contractually aware, with a good understanding of project cost, programme, change, subcontractor management and project P&L.
- You will be confident managing a team, leading subcontractors, working with clients and consultants, and keeping pressure on delivery without losing control of the detail.
- An electrical or building services qualification would be expected, alongside strong IT, reporting, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience coordinating around CSA works, mechanical interfaces and wider M&E sequencing would be a clear advantage.
Why this role
This is a strong move for an Electrical Project Manager who wants to build or strengthen their data centre experience in one of the most active sectors in construction.
Data centres are not forgiving projects. The electrical package is central to the success of the job, and the role needs someone who can manage pressure, understand technical detail and keep people moving in the right direction.
For the right person, this is the sort of scheme that genuinely strengthens a CV. You will be joining a major project with serious backing, a strong package and the chance to take ownership of electrical delivery on a new build data centre in the Slough market.
If you are an Electrical Project Manager who can lead people, control the detail and deliver under pressure, this is a role worth discussing.
