Electrical Project Manager – Hyperscale Data Centre

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading international M&E contractor delivering a major hyperscale data centre development in Northumberland.

Due to the scale of the project, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee the delivery of substantial electrical infrastructure and installation packages.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager with previous data centre experience to join an established project team working on a technically challenging, large-scale development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing electrical works from design coordination and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to the MEP Lead Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of designated electrical packages.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing electrical installations across major data centre infrastructure packages.
• Overseeing HV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, containment and associated electrical services, as allocated.
• Coordinating electrical subcontractors, specialist suppliers and site engineering teams.
• Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, technical submissions and design information.
• Managing procurement schedules, material deliveries and installation programmes.
• Coordinating electrical works with mechanical, CSA and other specialist trades.
• Managing project progress, labour resources, productivity and subcontractor performance.
• Identifying technical issues and working with design teams to develop practical solutions.
• Managing RFIs, design changes, quality inspections and technical documentation.
• Supporting project commercial teams with variations, cost control and forecasting.
• Coordinating electrical testing, commissioning, energisation planning and handover activities.
• Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project safety and quality requirements.

Experience Required

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager with a strong electrical contracting background and proven experience delivering substantial electrical packages.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience delivering data centre or mission-critical electrical installations.
• Strong knowledge of major electrical distribution and infrastructure systems.
• Experience managing substantial electrical subcontract packages.
• A background working for established M&E or specialist electrical contractors.
• Experience delivering projects through construction, testing and commissioning.
• Strong programme management, procurement and subcontractor coordination skills.
• Good commercial awareness and experience working alongside quantity surveying teams.
• The ability to manage electrical engineering and installation teams in a demanding construction environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience working on hyperscale data centres, including major power distribution and critical electrical infrastructure, would be particularly advantageous.
