We are currently recruiting for a Critical Shift Engineer - Electrical Bias to join a well-established and highly reputable Facilities Management provider, working on a prestigious data centre in Hayes, West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Level 3 qualified Electrical Engineer looking for long-term stability, strong earning potential and career progression within a company that actively promotes from within.
Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of critical electrical and building services systems, ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and operational 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of a dedicated on-site critical engineering team
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Maintaining and fault-finding on electrical systems and critical infrastructure
- Carrying out regular inspections of electrical plant and equipment
- Managing PPM schedules, logbooks and statutory compliance documentation
- Responding to electrical breakdowns and faults in a timely and professional manner
- Ensuring all critical systems are maintained to a high standard within the data centre environment
- Supporting the wider M&E team with associated building services
- PPM tasks to include, but not be limited to:
- Emergency lighting
- General lighting
- Fire alarm systems
- Electrical distribution systems
- LV switchgear and distribution boards
- UPS systems
- Generators and associated equipment
- Plant room inspections
- AHUs & FCUs
- Associated building services equipment
Electrical qualification - Level 3 essential:
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations - essential
- 2391 Testing & Inspection - desirable
- Previous experience within a commercial, critical or data centre environment is highly advantageous
- Strong Electrical Bias with a solid building services background
- Experienced in PPM, reactive maintenance and electrical fault-finding
- Comfortable working within a critical environment, ideally a data centre
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance
- Professional and client-facing approach
- Well-organised with strong attention to detail and compliance
- Able to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled engineering team
- Experience working on data centres, healthcare or other critical-site contracts is beneficial but not essential
