Electrical Site Manager

James Lewis Recruitment

Electrical Site Manager

London | Secure Estate / Prison | Contract

Up to £335 per day (depending on experience) + staying away allowance

Our client is a well-regarded M&E specialist with a strong track record delivering complex refurbishment and new-build projects across the secure estate. They run structured delivery teams with clear reporting lines and solid on-site support, and they're now looking for an experienced Electrical Site Manager to lead electrical delivery on a live MEP package.

You'll take ownership of electrical supervision on site — managing subcontract labour, driving quality and programme, and keeping everything compliant in a secure, controlled-access environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Run electrical supervision on site: labour, sequencing, access constraints, permits, and short-interval planning.
  • Manage subcontract electricians and specialist vendors (containment, cabling, termination, lighting, testing/commissioning support).
  • Own H&S: RAMS, permits, daily briefings, toolbox talks, safe systems of work in a secure environment, and close-out of actions.
  • Drive quality control: benchmarks, ITPs, inspections, snag management, and “right-first-time” installs.
  • Coordinate with the wider project team on programme and interfaces (M&E coordination, builderswork, ceilings/walls, penetrations, containment routes).
  • Control materials and logistics, including receipt, issue and storage of client-supplied major equipment and cable.
  • Keep tight records: daily diaries, progress reporting, labour returns, QA packs, as-builts and handover support.

What you'll need

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager / Supervisor delivering MEP projects, ideally within secure, live or controlled-access environments.
  • Strong electrical installation knowledge: containment, distribution, lighting, small power, testing coordination and commissioning readiness.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS (SSSTS minimum).
  • ECS/JIB card (or equivalent trade background) — HNC/HND useful but not essential.
  • Comfortable running subcontract labour, managing interfaces, and pushing programme without sacrificing quality.
  • Able to pass the relevant security / vetting requirements for a prison environment.

Why this role

This is a chance to take real ownership of electrical delivery on a proper secure-estate programme  — a strong day rate, a long run of work, and a structured team behind you.
