An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join a prestigious property management organisation at a landmark high-rise commercial building in Canary Wharf. We are seeking a technically strong and operationally credible Electrical Supervisor to lead a team of 10 engineers, delivering the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all building engineering services within this prestigious static site. The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background, supported by a good understanding of mechanical building services, and proven experience working within a busy high-rise commercial environment. This is a hands-on supervisory role, requiring a confident leader who can effectively manage and develop a team, maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and statutory compliance, assist with the diagnosis and resolution of complex building services faults, and ensure the building continues to operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard for its occupiers.
Hours of work
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, rotating early and late shifts: 7:00am – 4:00pm and 10:00am – 7:00pm
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate a team of 10 engineers, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
- Oversee the delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across all electrical and mechanical building services, ensuring statutory compliance and contractual obligations are met.
- Identify faults and maintenance issues, provide technical guidance, and carry out or oversee repairs and remedial works as required.
- Manage minor works projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget, and to agreed timescales.
- Prepare maintenance reports, technical documentation, and operational updates for management and the client.
- Attend client and operational meetings, providing technical support and updates on maintenance performance, ongoing works, and building issues.
- Ensure all plant, equipment, and assets are accurately maintained within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), keeping maintenance schedules and asset information up to date.
- Supervise specialist contractors and service providers, ensuring all works are completed safely, in accordance with site procedures, and to the required quality standards.
- Assist in the planning, development, and continuous improvement of maintenance programmes for all building services plant and equipment.
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and COSHH assessments, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership, supporting engineers with fault finding, diagnostics, and complex maintenance activities across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Support the inspection, testing, and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including HV/LV electrical systems, emergency lighting, fire and life safety systems, standby power, and statutory compliance programmes.
- Carry out plant condition surveys, identify defects, and recommend remedial works to improve reliability, efficiency, and asset lifespan.
- Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety policies, Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work procedures, and relevant statutory legislation.
- Liaise with the client, contractors, and building management to coordinate planned shutdowns, maintenance activities, and critical works while minimising disruption to building operations.
- Provide technical recommendations to improve the performance, efficiency, and resilience of building services systems.
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota and respond to critical building incidents when required.
- Maintain accurate records, including service reports, maintenance documentation, certificates, drawings, and asset information.
- Review and approve engineer timesheets, maintenance records, and completed work orders, ensuring documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Assist with the preparation of quotations, monitoring project costs, and supporting the delivery of additional works.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by senior management.

- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification (minimum) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- A recognised facilities management qualification (such as IWFM/BIFM or a relevant degree) would be advantageous
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, supported by a good understanding of mechanical and HVAC building services within a large commercial environment
- Previous supervisory experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team while maintaining high performance standards
