About the Company
leading global manufacturer of Materials Testing Machines, Accessories, Software, and Automated Test Systems. Following the acquisition of Imetrum Ltd in 2024, Tinius Olsen has expanded its capabilities in high-accuracy, non-contact measurement technology.
Due to continued growth and increasing demand, we are looking for a skilled Assembly Technician to join our Redhill-based team and take ownership of the build, calibration, and quality processes for our innovative Vector Extensometer product range.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing technology division where you will play a key role in producing high-quality, precision-engineered products.
The Role
You will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure products are built accurately, efficiently, and ready for customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out incoming inspection of components to ensure quality standards are met
- Identify and report any non-conforming parts and work with suppliers on replacements
- Prepare production kits from ERP/MRP systems
- Assemble and build precision-engineered products
- Complete repair and rework activities where required
- Carry out product calibration using specialist calibration equipment
- Maintain accurate records of serial numbers, calibration data, and production documentation
- Pack completed products ready for customer shipment
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Follow company quality procedures, health & safety requirements, and manufacturing standards
- Support continuous improvement activities across the production process
About You
We are looking for a hands-on, technically minded individual who enjoys working with precision products and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
You will ideally have experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or technical assembly environment and be comfortable working with detailed components where accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within a precision manufacturing, engineering, or technical assembly environment
- Experience with close-tolerance assembly work
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly instructions
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers
- Confident using small hand tools for detailed assembly work
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
- Ability to maintain accurate technical records and documentation
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable Experience
- Experience with optical or high-accuracy assemblies
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365)
- Experience working within ISO 9001 or a structured quality management environment
- Background in electronics or mechanical assembly
- Experience with calibration processes
- Interest or practical experience in areas such as RC models, 3D printing, DIY mechanics, or similar
Qualifications
- Engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent practical experience preferred
- Full UK driving licence required
