The Opportunity

FORD & STANLEY are pleased to be working with our client to recruit experienced Electrical Technicians based at their Crewe depot.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining fleet reliability, safety and availability through the inspection, fault-finding, repair and testing of electrical systems across passenger rolling stock.

The Role

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance activities on rolling stock vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Electrical fault-finding, diagnosis and repair of rolling stock systems
• Planned and corrective maintenance activities
• Electrical inspections, testing and commissioning
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
• Supporting fleet reliability and availability targets
• Completing maintenance records and documentation accurately
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety, quality and environmental standards
• Participating in technical, operational and safety briefings
• Operating rail vehicles within depot limits where required
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards throughout the depot
• Supporting wider maintenance activities as directed by management

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally possess:

Essential

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience
• Experience carrying out maintenance, testing and repair activities within a heavy engineering environment
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and safe isolation procedures
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions

Desirable

• Previous rolling stock maintenance experience
• Experience within rail, manufacturing, heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, defence or similar engineering environments
• Knowledge of depot operations and maintenance procedures
• Experience working on safety-critical equipment and systems
