We are recruiting for an ambitious, forward-thinking and motivated individual to join our client, a well-established engineering team at a leading manufacturing facility in Dumfries. Full training will be provided for domestic electricians looking to move into an industrial setting.

This role would suit an experienced industrial electrician or a domestic electrician looking to develop their skills within a manufacturing environment. Candidates should be motivated, technically minded, safety-focused and keen to build a long-term career within engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance activities including reactive, planned and improvement work
  • Maintain plant equipment and process machinery, including PLCs and electrical drive systems
  • Complete installation work including 3-phase, single-phase and containment systems
  • Assist with network cabling installations
  • Support engineering projects and site improvement initiatives
  • Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT)
  • Assist with apprentice training and mentoring
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental and legislative standards
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues across the business


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Electrician
  • City & Guilds or SVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification
  • Experience working in a similar industrial role following qualification
  • Basic understanding of ventilation, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam service systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of electrical control and drive systems
  • Ability to read and update electrical schematics and control documentation
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Experience with PLCs, programming and fault diagnosis
  • Experience working with industrial robotics
  • Knowledge of machine safety systems and interlocking functions
  • Familiarity with Beckhoff PLC systems
  • Experience following detailed written procedures and processes
