We are recruiting for an experienced Electrician with instrumentation, control and automation experience to join a specialist engineering contractor working predominantly within the UK water industry.

This is a field-based role covering sites across the Thames Valley and Southern England, so candidates can be based across the wider region rather than in one fixed office location.

A major benefit of the role is that travel is paid door-to-door, alongside a company van and fuel card.

We are particularly interested in Electricians who have experience with ICA systems, instrumentation, PLCs, telemetry, control panels or panel wiring and would like to continue developing within this area.

The Role

As an Electrician, you will work across a range of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems on operational clean water and wastewater sites.

You will work alongside electrical, mechanical and ICA engineers, as well as independently where required, carrying out installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing and equipment replacement.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Electrical installation, modification, maintenance, repair and replacement of electrical and ICA equipment.
• Installation, commissioning, maintenance and calibration of process instrumentation, including flow, pressure, level, pH and solids measurement equipment.
• Fault finding across instrumentation, control and automation systems using appropriate electrical and diagnostic equipment.
• Working with PLC, HMI, SCADA, telemetry and associated control systems.
• Testing, configuration and commissioning of electrical and ICA equipment.
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and technical information.
• Working with electrical control panels, including panel wiring and control panel modifications where required.
• Supporting planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
• Providing electrical and controls technical support while working closely with mechanical, electrical and ICA teams.
• Liaising professionally with clients and contractors, maintaining Health & Safety standards and participating in the out-of-hours standby/call-out rota.

About You

We are looking for an experienced, qualified Electrician who can work confidently across electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding, ideally with additional experience in instrumentation, control and automation.

Ideally you'll have:

• A full electrical apprenticeship or relevant HNC, ONC, BTEC or equivalent electrical qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• ECS or CSCS card.
• Industrial electrical installation, maintenance or commissioning experience.
• Experience with ICA, instrumentation, control or automation systems.
• Knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA or telemetry systems.
• Experience with process instrumentation, electrical drawings and fault finding.
• Control panel or panel wiring experience would be particularly advantageous.
• Good communication skills, the ability to work independently and a full UK driving licence.

Experience within the water or wastewater sector would be advantageous, although strong industrial electrical, ICA or controls experience from another process environment will also be considered.

Test & Inspection qualifications such as 2391 or 2395 would also be advantageous.
