Mobile Maintenance Electrician - Rail Infrastructure & Depots

Location: Mobile (GTR Northern Depots - North London, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire & ECML Corridor to Peterborough)

Salary: Competitive Base Rate + Paid Door-to-Door + Standby Allowance & Excellent Overtime Rates

Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:30 (On-call rotation every 4-6 weeks)

Are you an experienced Electrician looking for a dynamic mobile role within the rail infrastructure sector?

We are recruiting a Mobile Maintenance Electrician to deliver planned and reactive electrical maintenance across key maintenance depots, sidings, and station infrastructure across the Great Northern / Thameslink northern network.

What We Offer

  • Call-out Allowance: £125/week standby fee during on-call rotation (approx. 1 week in 4-6).

  • Attractive Overtime Rates:

    • 1.5x Hourly Rate: Mon-Fri 17:30-08:00 & Sat 08:00-14:00

    • 2.0x Hourly Rate: Sat 14:00 - Mon 08:00

    • Minimum 4 hours paid per call-out attended.

  • Benefits: 20 days annual leave + Auto-enrolment workplace pension (3% employer / 5% employee contributions).



Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Contracts Manager and Site Foreman, you will be responsible for keeping critical rail depot assets running safely and smoothly:

  • PPM & Reactive Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance and handle emergency reactive fault repairs across electrical equipment listed on the client asset register.

  • Condition Reporting: Assess plant and equipment condition, highlighting Life Expired Assets and putting together remedial work lists.

  • Job Administration: Accurately complete weekly worksheets, manage material deliveries/orders, and assist the Contracts Manager with remedial work costings.

  • Safety First: Adhere strictly to site Health & Safety guidelines, complete safety training, and ensure works are delivered to client specifications.

  • Call-Out Response: Provide 24/7 emergency response cover during your scheduled on-call week (17:30 - 08:00, 7-day period).



What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience as an Electrician carrying out electrical maintenance in commercial or industrial environments (rail/infrastructure experience is a bonus).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical circuit diagrams.

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential for mobile depot coverage).

  • A flexible, dependable approach to working hours and emergency call-out duties.

  • Strong communication skills and basic digital literacy for completing online worksheets and paperwork.
