We are working in partnership with a national maintenance contractor to recruit a skilled Electrician to deliver Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) within a secure facility in London This is a long-term contract opportunity based at a single site within a Category C or B Prison, where you’ll carry out care maintenance across accommodation and service areas.

**No shift work – Monday to Friday only**

**No transport needed, but parking is available if required**

The facility is a secure unit and therefore personal items (mobile phones) will not be allowed past security checks daily

There will be a key holder in each team and as a team you will be responsible for the safe movement, use, storage and removal of a work tool chest and required materials to complete set works

The facility could be challenging environment for some due to it’s secure nature and security checks, so you must be happy working in and around a secure facility which houses patients and inmates
Key elements of the role and your responsibilities

For this role you should be able to demonstrate a core skilled trade of Electrical Maintenance and the ability to undertake a range Electrical duties including:

Electrical fault diagnosis and repair
-
Carrying out EICRs and issuing reports
-
Rewiring, fuse board changes, and remedial works
-
Smoke alarm and extractor fan installations
-
Ensuring compliance with current IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)

Maintaining accurate records and certificates
-
Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, including BS 7671 and internal policies, while ensuring appropriate PPE and tools are used at all times

Carry out safe and compliant electrical repairs and installations, prioritizing first-time fixes and high standards of workmanship

Diagnose and rectify faults across domestic electrical systems, including full and partial rewires, in accordance with company and industry standards

Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues to keep all parties informed of job progress and outcomes. Escalate complex issues when needed for further assessment

Support the planned works team by completing full electrical upgrades in kitchens, bathrooms, or entire properties—both occupied and void
What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant to the role

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds 2365/2357)

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)

City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent in Testing & Inspection

Experience working in maintenance
