Electrical Supervisor
Location: Cannock
Salary: £39,513 per annum (pay award pending) plus a car allowance
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: Permanent

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified Electrical Supervisor to join our Housing Maintenance team.

You will play a key role in supervising and coordinating electrical property repair and maintenance services, ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently, to a high standard and in accordance with all relevant electrical regulations and health and safety requirements.

Working with colleagues, contractors and tenants, you will provide effective supervision, make robust decisions and help ensure that services meet agreed performance, quality and budgetary standards.

Key responsibilities for the Electrical Supervisor

  • Supervise, plan and organise electrical repair and maintenance work within a Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) or similar environment.
  • Manage and support a team to achieve high standards of performance and service delivery.
  • Monitor work against agreed targets, timescales and budgets.
  • Ensure electrical works comply with relevant regulations, standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Manage and monitor contracts and contractor performance where required.
  • Deal effectively with tenants, colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Use computerised management systems and mobile working technology to manage and monitor work.
  • Produce and amend reports, documents and other information using Microsoft Office and bespoke systems.
  • Resolve operational issues through effective negotiation, persuasion and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to the effective management of property repair and maintenance services.

About you

We are looking for someone with significant post-qualification experience and a proven ability to supervise and manage a team.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to deal professionally with people at all levels, including tenants. You will be able to make sound decisions in demanding situations and demonstrate a strong track record in negotiation, problem-solving and achieving results.

You should also have a good understanding of property repair and maintenance, health and safety requirements and the regulations governing electrical work.

Experience of working within social housing, managing contracts, using computerised management systems and working with disrepair or insurance claims would be advantageous.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must hold either:

Option 1

  • ECS Registered Electrician Gold Card with the occupation of Installation Electrician

OR

Option 2

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification - City & Guilds 2365, 2357-13 or 5357
  • Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 - City & Guilds 2382-18
  • Level 3 Award in Initial Verification of Electrical Installations - City & Guilds 2391 or 2394
  • Level 3 Award in Electrical Installation Inspection, Testing, Certification and Reporting - City & Guilds 2395

What we're looking for

  • Significant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical regulations.
  • Sound professional knowledge of property repair and maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience of supervising, planning and organising work in a DLO or similar environment.
  • Ability to monitor progress against agreed targets, timescales and budgets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make robust decisions in demanding situations.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office and computerised management systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in the social housing sector.
  • Experience of managing contracts.
  • Knowledge of the disrepair claims process.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims processes.
