About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and internationally recognised manufacturer within the HVAC industry, supplying high-quality Air Handling Unit (AHU) solutions across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Site Electrical & Controls Engineer to join their specialist site services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician with exposure to electrical control systems who is looking to develop specialist knowledge within HVAC controls. Full product and controls training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys learning new technologies and progressing their career.

The Role

Working as part of the Site Services team, you'll travel to customer sites across the UK carrying out the installation, commissioning, fault finding and support of Air Handling Units (AHUs) and associated electrical control systems.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working on-site, solving technical problems and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation work on Air Handling Units (AHUs) across customer sites.
  • Commission AHUs, condensing units and associated electrical control systems.
  • Upload and download pre-written PLC software during commissioning activities (no programming required).
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and controls faults using wiring diagrams, electrical testing equipment and system logic.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings and wiring schedules.
  • Complete control panel wiring, testing and verification.
  • Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site.
  • Produce commissioning reports, service documentation and site records.
  • Complete site surveys, RAMS and assist with electrical and controls quotations where required.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company quality standards.
  • Supervise up to two subcontractors on site when required.

About You

We're looking for a qualified electrician who has some exposure to control systems and is keen to build a long-term career within the HVAC sector.

Essential

  • 18th Edition 
  • Electrical installation and fault-finding experience.
  • Previous exposure to electrical control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and control schematics.
  • Experience working with electrical control panels.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK with overnight stays Monday to Friday.

Desirable

  • Experience within HVAC, Building Services or Facilities Management.
  • Exposure to Siemens control systems.
  • Experience commissioning electrical equipment.
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent electrical qualification.

Package

£42,000 per annum starting slary plus 

  • Enhanced overtime rates: 1.5x basic hourly rate outside normal working hours. 2.0x basic hourly rate on Sundays.
  • Company credit card for accommodation.
  • £65 daily subsistence allowance when working away (subject to company policy).
  • Ongoing career development with a leading manufacturer in additional to initial product training. 

Working Away

This is a field-based role covering customer sites across the UK and rarely further affield.

Engineers typically travel on Monday mornings and return home on Fridays. Overnight accommodation is arranged using a company credit card, with a substantial daily subsistence allowance provided while working away.

Weekend work is kept to a minimum wherever possible.
