Electrician – Solar Installations
Net Zero Evolution
Job Title: Electrician – Solar Installations
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per year
Location: Oxfordshire (Harwell Innovation Centre base, with travel across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Wiltshire)
From the moment you unscrew that first solar panel clamp to the final inverter commissioning, you’ll power homes towards greener, more cost-effective energy. You take pride in your electrical craft, enjoy working at height and relish seeing satisfied customers light up at the first generation reading. If you’re an experienced electrician ready to specialise in solar or an ambitious spark keen to step into renewables this hands-on role will connect your skills with one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries.
Why this role
As a key member of our seasoned installation team, you will carry out all AC electrical work on residential and occasional small commercial solar PV and battery systems. You will document your installations through our NICEIC portal, ensuring every connection meets the highest professional standard. With operator-led training on inverter and battery brands, you’ll quickly master the nuances of solar commissioning and expand your skill set in a supportive environment.
What you’ll do
You will join our Installation Manager, in-house electrician and panel fitters in planning and executing daily solar projects. Your day might begin inspecting panel layouts on a new build roof, then shift to wiring an inverter in a customer’s garage, before wrapping up with detailed digital records of your AC work. Wherever you’re needed with company-supplied van and clothing you’ll ensure every cable is neat, compliant and ready to feed clean energy back into the grid.
About the company
We’re a well-established regional solar specialist with over 14 years’ experience in PV, batteries, EV chargers and bespoke home energy management systems. Located at Harwell Innovation Centre, our busy, friendly and professional team has just expanded following a strategic acquisition. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, excellent customer care and a culture where your ideas to improve processes are welcomed.
About you
You hold at least four years’ electrical experience and a full UK driving licence. You’re confident with wiring regulations and comfortable documenting work via an industry portal. While prior solar experience is advantageous, a skilled electrician with strong domestic experience who is eager to learn solar PV inverters and battery systems will fit right in. You’re proactive, reliable and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to solve on-site challenges.
Rewards & growth
You’ll receive a fully expensed company van, 25 days’ holiday plus statutory bank holidays, company pension and subsidised travel. As we continue to grow, there’s a clear path into supervisory or management roles within our expanding installation teams.
