Location: Nottingham (with UK-wide travel)
Contract Type: Temporary (4 months minimum – temp to perm potential)
Salary: £29.00 per hour PAYE plus associated benefits

Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrician / Electrical Fitter to join one of our premier clients, a leading UK based and international water management company to support sites across the North of England.

The position is available from late September 2026 and will continue until Christmas 2026 as a minimum for the right candidate. It is highly likely the arrangement will be extended into 2027 or potentially a permanent role offered accordingly following the initial period.

The role involves installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning of industrial and wastewater electrical equipment on customer sites. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, focusing primarily on maintenance, breakdown repairs, and some new installations (approximately 15% of workload is install).

The position requires fault finding to component level, preventative maintenance on pumps and machinery, site surveys, and equipment refurbishment.

Based from our clients Nottingham premises, travel across the North of England is expected, with occasional lodging away from home.

This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in industrial automation, instrumentation, controls, and wastewater technologies while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults to component level.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumps, machinery, and wastewater equipment.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota.
• Conduct site inspections, technical surveys, and prepare reports for quotations.
• Install and commission instrumentation, control systems, and associated equipment.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service documentation.
• Maintain accurate service reports and maintenance records using electronic systems.
• Strip, refurbish, and rebuild industrial pumps, motors, and related equipment.
• Work safely at height, in confined spaces, and across various industrial site environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades to meet project objectives.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical installation and maintenance.
• Electrical fault finding and diagnostic capability to component level.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Understanding of industrial control systems and automation principles.
• Experience with commissioning, testing, and inspection procedures.
• Proficient in using handheld diagnostic and electronic reporting tools.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to complete technical reports accurately.
• Customer service and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.

Certifications & Standards

• City & Guilds Part 1 and Part 2 or equivalent electrical qualifications
• JIB/ECS Gold Card (Essential)
• City & Guilds 2380 / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Essential)
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification (Desirable)
• EUSR card (Desirable)
• Full UK driving licence

Remuneration

• £29.00 per hour PAYE including associated direct employment benefits (holiday pay, pension etc)
• Paid travel time while in company vehicle (door-to-door)
• Standard 40-hour week with overtime paid at 1.5x after 40 hours
• Lodging and subsistence allowance provided when away from home (£25 per night plus hotel and breakfast)
• Will be paired with a colleague with a van own transport to Nottingham required
