Proven experience in a Buyer or similar procurement-focused role within a manufacturing environment.

A leading advanced technology and logistics business are currently recruiting for a Buyer on a full-time, permanent basis in Wallingford.

Role - Buyer
Type - Permanent
Location - South Oxford (hybrid 3 days on site after the first few months)
Salary - £50,000 + benefits

Key responsibilities for the Buyer will include and will not be limited to:

  • Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and outsourced assemblies in line with production schedules
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, delivery dates, and shipment details
  • Expedite or defer orders to align with changing demand and production priorities
  • Monitor supplier performance across delivery and responsiveness, escalating issues where required
  • Collaborate with planning, production, and warehouse teams to support material availability and inventory accuracy
  • Track and resolve supply issues including shortages, delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers and contract manufacturers by setting up transactional purchasing processes

Key skills and experience required for Buyer job applicant and will not be limited to:

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (circa 3+ years)
  • Background supporting manufacturing operations, ideally buying direct materials or components
  • Strong supplier communication skills with a practical, problem-solving approach to delivery and supply issues
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with planning, production, engineering, and warehouse teams
  • Understanding of inventory, delivery scheduling, and production priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with outsourced assemblies or contract manufacturing environments (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, logistics, and international purchasing (desirable)
