Electronics Design Engineer – Analogue/Mixed Signal/RF

Location: Central London – Hybrid
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Industry: Quantum Computing / Photonics / Advanced Technology

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to work on cutting-edge technology at the forefront of quantum computing, photonics and next-generation computing systems.

Our client is an innovative, rapidly developing technology company designing and manufacturing advanced photonic computing systems. Their technology combines precision electronics, optics and sophisticated control systems to deliver commercially deployed quantum computing solutions.

They are looking for a talented, hands-on Electronics Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and wants to see their designs become part of real, working systems.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of electronic hardware development, working alongside highly skilled physicists, optical engineers and software developers in a collaborative R&D environment.

The Role

You will be involved in the complete electronics development lifecycle, from initial concept and circuit design through to PCB development, prototyping, testing and integration.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing analogue and mixed-signal electronic circuits, including signal conditioning, low-noise amplification and ADC/DAC interfaces

  • Developing electronic control and interface circuitry for advanced optical systems

  • Taking ownership of schematic capture, PCB design, prototyping and hardware verification

  • Testing and debugging electronic circuits using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and other laboratory equipment

  • Collaborating with optics, physics, embedded software and systems engineering teams

  • Supporting hardware integration, troubleshooting and continuous product improvement

  • Contributing to design reviews, technical documentation and EMC considerations

About You

We are particularly interested in experienced Electronics Engineers with a strong practical background in analogue, mixed-signal or RF circuit design.

Ideally, you will offer:

  • A degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline

  • Several years' commercial experience designing electronic hardware, ideally with the confidence to work independently

  • Strong analogue, mixed-signal or RF electronics experience

  • Experience designing PCBs, including schematic capture and layout

  • A sound understanding of signal integrity, noise, filtering and electronic measurement techniques

  • Practical experience building, testing and debugging electronic hardware

  • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers or digital interfaces

Experience in scientific instrumentation, RF/microwave systems, photonics, lasers, medical devices, semiconductor equipment or other advanced R&D environments would be particularly relevant.

Previous quantum computing experience is not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to move beyond conventional electronics development and contribute to a rapidly evolving field of technology.

You'll be working on genuinely innovative hardware, tackling interesting technical challenges and collaborating with specialists across electronics, optics, physics and software.

Unlike purely research-focused positions, the technology is already being deployed commercially, offering the satisfaction of seeing your engineering work contribute to real-world systems.

If you're an experienced Electronics Engineer looking for a technically challenging position where your work can make a genuine impact, we'd be very interested in hearing from you.
